Camping
Camping is allowed only in the designated campground. The campground page describes 38 sites, including partial hookups, tent sites, hike-in sites, and group camping, inside the park on Snow Canyon Drive. Reservations can be made from 48 hours to 4 months ahead online. Inside 48 hours, sites are walk-up only. Book on the state’s system. The 2026 brochure lists utahstateparks.reserveamerica.com and phone 1-800-322-3770. Book through the Reserve link on the park’s camping page. Site prices are on the fees page, not repeated here as a receipt. The day-use fee is separate from a campsite.
Backpacking
There is no backpacking permit because backcountry camping is not allowed. The FAQ answers “Can I camp somewhere else in the park other than the campground?” with no. Do not plan a night on a trail. If you want a wilderness overnight, that is a different park with a different permit. Snow Canyon’s legal night is a reserved or walk-up campsite.
Canyoneering
Two routes require an online permit: Arch Canyon and Island in the Sky. The park’s permits page says permits can be purchased up to four months ahead, each permit covers up to six people, Island in the Sky is offered year-round, and Arch Canyon permits are only available from September 15 through March 14. That window matches the seasonal habitat closure. Buy the permit from the link on that official page. We are not the seller, and a tour booking is not a permit.
Climbing
The 2026 brochure lists technical climbing on more than 170 designated sport routes as an allowed use. In the same rules block, the online-permit sentence names the two canyoneering routes, not a climbing lottery. We did not find a separate climbing-permit application on the Utah State Parks Snow Canyon pages. Do not assume that means every wall is open. Alerts say rock-climbing routes in Johnson Canyon close with Arch Canyon from March 15 through September 14. Read the brochure and current conditions, and call the park at 435-628-2255 if a route’s status is unclear. Bring your own gear. We do not guide climbs.
Day visits that do not need a campsite still need the day-use fee. Trails: hiking. Pack: loadout. Sample days: plan.
