Where the park says you can ride

The Snow Canyon FAQ, checked October 3, 2026, says e-bikes are allowed and that all posted speed limits apply. In the main canyon it lists Snow Canyon Drive, the paved Whiptail trail, and West Canyon. In Paradise Canyon it lists all trails except the interior portion of the Gila trail, which it says is impassable to bikes. Bikes are not allowed on the Johnson Canyon trail. The know-before-you-go page says to follow the 25 mph posted speed limit, and it prohibits skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters. It does not list a throttle-bike class.

This page is not adding a mileage for Whiptail. The FAQ names the trail and does not print a distance in the biking answer checked today. Riders are encouraged, on that same FAQ, to watch the park’s safety and etiquette video and follow seasonally posted signs.

The park does not rent bikes

The FAQ answers “Can I rent bicycles in the park?” with no. It says there are multiple bike rental companies throughout St. George and Ivins. Springdale is a Zion town, not where that answer sends you. If you want a different company, search locally in St. George or Ivins.

  • St. George, Cedar City, and Hurricane: Red Rock Bicycle Co. The rentals page lists a St. George shop at 446 W. 100 S., St. George, UT 84770. No rental price was visible in the page text opened October 3, 2026, so none is printed here. Red Rock rentals.
  • Ivins and St. George: Rampage Rental and Repair’s Snow Canyon page offers e-bike rentals. Ivins: 1195 E Snow Canyon Pkwy, Ivins, UT 84738. St. George: 1479 George Washington Blvd, St. George, UT 84790. That page did not state a bike class or a price, so this page does not either. Ask the shop what you are getting. Do not assume a throttle bike belongs on a park trail. Rampage Snow Canyon rentals.

Summer heat is the park’s own warning, not a shop’s: avoid hiking, biking, or other activities between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., and start early. The park is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Zion’s e-bike rule is stricter

Zion National Park, on its bicycling page, allows only Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes, the kind whose assist stops at 20 mph, and only on the Pa’rus Trail and park roads. They are not allowed on other trails or through the Zion–Mount Carmel Tunnel, and they will not fit the shuttle racks. That write-up is zioncanyontours.com/ebikes.html. This page is ebikes.html. Dogs are a separate question: dogs.html.
